Home Decor Trend: White with Black Accents
Put this in the column of "Things We Love". Add accents of matte black to a white room and you've instantly elevated the decor from sterile to glamorous.
Sometimes driving down the street, I can't help but admire that white shiplap home with black accents. Or I sit transfixed watching one of my favorite shows, Love It or List it, when designer Hillary Farr creates a magnificent bathroom with white tile and black fixtures. Something about it is so chic and elegant when done right. Here are some tips to integrate the design scheme of white with black accents in your home.
Hints of black (and even a little gray) here and there breaks up the sterility of white and adds focal points throughout the room. A luxe white tile and unique, modern pieces really elevate the design.
Keep other colors neutral, such as this cabinet. Adding a light, natural wood adds to sense of calm and peace in the space.
Black fixtures including the pump tops for your soap dispensers and picture frames add those small touches of black accents to a kitchen. (Dispensers featured in this photo are here.)
For a daring and bold look, add patterns in flooring or shower tile. This look celebrates the yin and yang, the juxtaposition of polar opposites that contrast, yet integrate together so well.
